Bay of Plenty Regional Information

The Bay of Plenty is best known for three things; The Mount, kiwifruit and White Island.

The port city of Tauranga is a lively little city filled with shops and cafes and is best known for its nearby Mount Maunganui beach. Affectionally known by New Zealanders as The Mount, this popular surf beach is a minature version of Waikiki Beach.

Just twenty minutes from Tauranga is Te Puke (pronounced tea pookie). This is the largest kiwifruit growing region in the world. To commemorate this fact, there is a Kiwi Country theme park for those passionate about the fruit!

A truly unique attraction in the region is White Island, the country's only active marine volcano. Whether you visit by helicopter or boat, this is one experience to remember for a life time!
