Fiordland Regional Information

A visit to Fiordland is a must for any traveller to New Zealand. Its majestic "fairy-land" like beauty has inspired many photographers who have tried to capture on film the areas unbelievable feel .

Milford Sound, Doubtful Sound, Lake Manapouri, Lake Te Anau and the road from Te Anau to Milford require endless superlatives to describe them.

Milford Sound is best experienced on the first boat cruise of the morning or an overnight cruise. Seeing it in the rain is actually amazing, the waterfalls are everywhere!

A trip to Doubtful Sound is like a trip to Jurasic Park. It is remote, wild, tranquil and unreal.

Be warned this is the wettest place in New Zealand so be prepared for rain during your visit no matter what time of year.
