Marlborough Regional Information
The Marlborough region encompasses the dramatic Marlborough Sounds and the world famous wine district surrounding Blenheim. It is a region of water and wine!
The Marlborough Sounds are actually the only true Sounds in New Zealand (Milford and Doubtful Sound are acually fiords). They are steeped in Maori history and offer the traveller endless bays and inlets to explore by boat or kayak. The Marlborough Sound are also home to the famous Queen Charlotte Walkway; a gentle and beautiful walking track that may be a day hike or up to a four day trek.
The Marlborough Region is also home to Blenheim where the soil and weather offer the perfect combination to grow grapes. iVery distinctive Savginon Blanc wine is what has made the area most popular but other varities like Riesling, Gewürztraminer, Pinot Gris and fine Methode Traditionelle are also grown. With over forty vineyards to choose from your sure to find a wine (or two) that you like.
